Question Quick Reference Guide

I'm thinking about a quick reference guide to use on the street. What do you use? Has anyone seen this one and any thoughts on it?

http://justex.com/peace_officer_reference_book.html

Attached is the sample of this guide. Does this look useful? Thanks.

Well, I dunno what you have from the academy. But I still carry a copy of The Texas Criminal And Traffic Law Manual (LexisNexis/Gould Publications). It has the CCP, PC TC, & FC as well as pertinant sections of ABC, HSC & others. We're issued a copy almost every couple of years & we also have a version available on our MDC.

Other stuff in the 1 you're looking at are available through various means; phone#'s of every agency can be obtained through NLETS/TLETS, internet, or 411. My miranda card has both English/Spainish. I still have my pocket guide for consulate notification from class 2 years ago (used twice).

Of course, I've been gathering this stuff for a while; so I kinda have an advantage on ya. You might want to wait till you're out & about a bit & see what will work for you & what you need. But, if you think this thing will help you, get it.

I have the big ol Lexis Nexis book. I have not gotten the newest one. Our dept used to issue us one but with budget cuts, we no longer get them.
Most likely I will get a new one soon.

Do you have computers in your car? is so then Lexis Nexis is accessible from your computer.
Back in the day before computers in the car I had 3 quick reference guides 1 for UCR and the other 2 were traffic/criminal common violations and how to for special circumstances like wanted fugitive, weapons or drug related seizures.
If you make your own you will remember it better than if you buy one. My 2 cents.

We can if our internet is up. I find it harder to find what I want most times. I have the sections I use the most marked in my book and I can get to them quickly.
Plus, the book is easier to study whilst on ye ol crapper.

I'll second that one. Had to buy the newest one for a college class. Although I havent used it on the streets or in a job I can testify its value of knowledge.

We have a quick reference guide that list the most popular charges, although it is mainly traffic oriented it still list the most popular charges used by LEO's. Beats lugging the state statute book around. I still keep the big one around in my trunk as you never know when it will come in handy.

Default Reference books

I still carry the books cause I'm not technologically advanced. Most of the guys in my department have IPhones and can look up the statutes and municipal codes on line through the state/city web sites.
