Default Texas Civil Service Exams

Good Morning All,

I called Pearland Police Department yesterday, and I'm ready to start applying to police departments, and they told me I have to sign up for a civil service exam first and then everybody who takes the test is put on a list by the score they made. I am 99% sure that this is completely different than the TCLEOSE police officer exam but just want to make sure. Also is there a book or study guide that I can get to ace this civil service exam. Appreciate the help.

Oh yeah they're different. The Civil Service exam is just a general knowledge exam. There are study guides available. And if you feel it will help, get 1.

But I'll say that we've actually done away with the written test. We used it more for elimination purposes, rather than ranking as you describe. Since requiring college, only about 1% would fail to meet the 70% passing score. So it was not worth the expense of putting on the exam.

I have found that it's basic math grammar and vocabulary. I was told I would probably do very well without a study guide. Thanks for reassuring though hoss. Appreciate it
