Do any of yall use brown leather duty gear? Would you mind posting a pic of it?

I got hired on with a SO and am on the fence about picking up a set...in my mind it looks super sharp but I have never seen a set of brown duty gear that I can remember. I am afraid that what I am picturing in my head and what the brown gear looks like in real life will be way way different.

Even on the sites that sell brown duty gear they don't post any pictures (all the pictures are of the black leather of the gear)

I even tried the MSN and YAHOO image search w/no luck... or the pictures were in black/white

Brown is fairly common with SO's in TX. I would caution about mixing brands/makers. There are differences in the dyes that are more noticable than with black.

BTW, congrats on the job. Welcome to the zoo where you get to play with the animals.

I guess brown is getting harder to come by, but I have noticed more SO's allowing black. I would probably look at the major brands websites to see what's available and then look for a distributor. Most will order what you want if they don't have it in stock. I'll try to check with a couple of buddies here & see what they're wearing & where they got it.

Crap man! I just did a quick check & I'm having trouble finding brown duty gear. Is it required by your agency?

If you're allowed black, I suggest you look at Bianchi Accumold Elite. It is actually nylon, but comes in basketweave and looks like leather. It is lighter, easy to care for and seems pretty durable (I've been wearing it a couple of years). The ergo-tec padded duty belt is a backsaver.

Thanks for the help!
I already have a set of black leather/blasketweave duty gear (that I used in the academy) which I can use and probably will. I have always wanted a set of brown though, which is why I was looking around.

Rhode Island State Police wears brown gear. And yes...all but the far right and that Navy Peacoat looking thing are patrol uniforms that you will commonly see them in. Allegedly those knee high boots are easy to run in and are the most comfortable shoes you'll ever wear.

Handmade and custom fitted in 24 places.

Those aint to bad looking, particularly the 1 2nd from the right. I can really do without the suicide strap. Boots aint the style I prefer, but being custom fit I can bet they are comfortable. But I can't picture running in them. Look more appropriate for motor or mounted patrrol.

I guess I'd stick out if I rolled the brim up like a real Stetson hat http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:dgmR5FO7B9uyjM:http://cdn1.ioffer.com/img/item/439/732/71/o_HPIM2689.JPG (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://cdn1.ioffer.com/img/item/439/732/71/o_HPIM2689.JPG&imgrefurl=http://www.ioffer.com/offer_transactions/show/4093826&usg=__JMXrqtcTuJiw4iUzVzlU2jezfOk=&h=437&w=580&sz=76&hl=en&start=12&tbnid=dgmR5FO7B9uyjM:&tbnh=101&tbnw=134&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dstetson%2Bcowboy%2Bhat%26gbv%3D2%26hl %3Den%26safe%3Doff) & wore Tony Lama Ropers.http://t1.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:S9rBo822NAlyxM:https://vickerswesternstore.net/catalog/images/03Y901.jpg (http://images.google.com/imgres?imgurl=https://vickerswesternstore.net/catalog/images/03Y901.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.vickerswesternstore.net/catalog/index.php%3Fmanufacturers_id%3D39&usg=__0d-v0PANaVmjfHwyAkL3OZVkTxg=&h=350&w=350&sz=23&hl=en&start=13&tbnid=S9rBo822NAlyxM:&tbnh=120&tbnw=120&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dtony%2Blama%2Broper%2Bboots%26gbv%3D2 %26hl%3Den%26safe%3Doff)
