View Full Version : Part time/Reserve/Auxilliary LEOs

Do you have them in your area and if so are their powers different than full time officers? For example, here in TX the reserve officers have the same powers as full time law enforcement officers but I know that is not the case everywhere. I'm not sure about part time LEOs here in TX though.

Our reserves have the same powers we do, some agencies will let them work extra duty assignments and some do not. It is required that they work 12-20 hours a month to keep their status as sworn LEO. Like the full time LEOs they must complete the state mandated yearly training to remain sworn in.

in the county I am applying there is a part-time deputy and I asked the Sheriff the same question and to put it short he said the part-time leo has the same powers as the rest of us.
