Lateral Academy

Abilene PD is fixing to start the process for a Lateral Academy. If you've been working as a certified peace officer in TX but are looking for a change; here's your chance. I can't remember if they're requireing 2 or 5 years previous experience. But you go through the usual background & physical agility testing, but an abreviated academy & PTO program. It's more to famiarize you with our polcies & such.

For you new guys; sorry, but we're saving $ by doing the lateral thing this time around. We may have a basic academy next year.

Well, we only had 8 applications submitted.

And I found out yesterday that I'll be 1 of the background investigators for the crew. It's a job I usually enjoy a little bit, but I still find reasons to whine when dealing with HR.

Yeah, I figgered we'd have a few more investigate it. But then again I don't know how they advertised.
