SAN ANTONIO -- San Antonio police have identified the person who they say led an officer on a short chase that ended in a crash that killed four people, including two children.Battalion Chief Ralph Medina with the San Antonio Fire Department said the officer involved tried to pull over 38-year-old Valerie Andrews for running a red light Sunday night.
Police said Andrews, who was driving a PT Cruiser, sped away before she crashed into a minivan two blocks away at the corner of Lorita Drive and South Flores Street.The driver and passenger in the minivan were killed. An infant girl and an 11-year-old were transported by Airlife to University Hospital, where they died, police said.Melissa Navarro said she witnessed the crash."I peeked out and didn't see anything, so I looked over ... and saw the car in the pole," Navarro said. "It just looked really bad."Police said Andrews was arrested and charged with four counts of intoxication manslaughter and one count of evading arrest. Jail officials said her bonds total $230,000.
