Taken from another site:

I had lunch with one of my old K9 partners today. He and his K9 had gotten a dog bite on a suspect last week but as he told me the story I kept thinking about the GD bad asses that claim they can kill a trained K9 with their bare hands. Here is his story:

My old partner (MOP) made a traffic stop because the driver had been driving erratically (possibly drunk). As he made the stop the driver got out of his car before contact could be made and was agitated. The driver said, 'I'm not drunk. I'm an MMA fighter and if you try to arrest me I'll kick your ass.' The guy was about 508 and 185 described by MOP as solid. MOP asked him if he had been drinking and the driver said, 'I'll prove that I'm not drunk and started to try to walk an imaginary line on the ground without MOP saying anything. MOP went to grab the guy by the shoulder to get his attention and the driver went off. The fight was on so MOP released the dog from the truck via a remote on his belt. As the guy was fighting MOP the dog came up and made a good bite on the guy's "love handle" right above his waist. As the dog sunk the bite the guy stopped fighting MOP, smiled and said, 'I'm gonna kill your dog.' The guy punched the K9 on top of the head twice with a couple of hard punches. Before he could make a third strike the dog released his midsection bite and made a solid bite just forward of the guys armpit (towards the elbow) into the tricep. MOP said the guy jerked and caused a rip in the arm and the tricep muscle popped out of the skin. The guy started screaming to call off the dog so MOP arm-barred the guy and took him to the ground with the K9 still attached to the other side. When MOP got the guy down he called the dog out and it came off clean. The K9 heeled as he was supposed to do and as MOP tried to cuff the guy, the guy flipped himself over and knocked MOP to the ground in an attempt to put a submission hold on MOP. As the guy got on top of MOP the K9 made a full mouth bite onto the guy's neck from behind. As MOP got up from the ground, the guy began to scream that the dog was breaking his neck. MOP said that it was a full mouth bite and that the K9 had applied so much pressure that the dog had pinched the guy's airway shut and the guy was going out like a UVNR hold. MOP called the dog off and the guy laid there until he was cuffed and other units arrived. Total damage to the bad guy was puncture wounds to his midsection, a tricep muscle torn out of his arm and 4 puncture marks to his neck with some wicked tissue crush damage. After the K9 was put up the guy tried to fight the ambulance crew that came to patch him up. Turned out more than just alcohol but the tox info isn't back yet.

When I ran a K9 I had 2 people try to fight the dog during apprehensions claiming that they could hurt the K9 and make it stop. I watched 2 ass kickings but it was the K9 that did them. Both suspects ended up in the ER getting stitched back together. K9s are the ultimate pain compliance tool.

ETA: The K9 is a 65 lb Belgian Malinois.
