Any new duty weapon trends? My dept is making rookies buy the M&P in .40 in the academy. Afterwards they can buy another gun which does not make much sense to me.
I have bounced around between guns for the last few years and I am now on an XD kick. One thing I do not think I will grow out of is the .45 ACP kick.

I like me some big bullets!

Most popular guns in my hood are;
Sigs, Glocks, M&P's.

We're mandated to carry our issued Sig P229 in .40 S&W. I have no complaints about that. I love that gun! Most every department in the state carries either a Sig 220, 226, or 229; either that or a Glock. There are a couple holdouts that carry a Beretta 96/92 or and old school tactical S&W.

I prefer SIGs, but that's just me.

The M&P is a fine pistol in and of itself. I carry a .40 S&W M&P compact off duty.

Glock man myself, but our department issues the P226 so that is what I carry on duty.

I cant speak for duty weapons (yet) but but our academy class was almost all glocks. I used my 1911, and we had a few barettas but thats it.

From what I have seem on officers belts the glock is still king

Glocks are still king here too. Some of us get off track with lesser known brands and change guns every few years for shits and giggles.

We have a big list we can choose from for duty and off duty carry. Of course I carry a smaller version of my XD Tactical off duty.
10 rounds of .45 caliber pain in my backup gun.

We carry Desert Eagle .50 cal pistols in Delaware. We need the extra surface area to kill the toxic rats that run rampart in the dark corners.

yeah right.............

:bs:

Weapons I have carried on duty.
Sig. 229 .357 /.40 cal
S&W 6906/5906 .9mm
S&W Model 69 .357 Cal

Bullcrap. The Desert Eagle will go way out of your state range fan. You can shoot that mofo from one end and it will land in the other end of the Porta Potty sized state.
Send your rats to Jersey and NY, thats what we do.:shiner:

I have carried:
Glock 17
Glock 22
Para Ord SSP 1911
Springfield XD Tactical .45

My old department issues the Glock 22 as the standard duty weapon. As a retiree, I carry a Glock 27, mostly because it is small and compact and easy to conceal. I also have a Glock 20 (10MM) I seldom carry because it's large and harder to conceal. It is handy; however, on hikes in the woods in this area, where one can run in to Black Bears and even the occasional Grizzly! (Of course, I'd rather have a Shotgun w/slugs for these types of encounters ... but the 10 MM is a fair compromise.)
