Do I need a CHL to carry a Handgun in my vehicle in Pasadena, Texas?

I'm turning 21 next year and I am planning on protecting my vehicle and those occupying it.

Sorry if this question has been asked, I did do a search.

Specifically, for your edification:

Sec. 46.02. UNLAWFUL CARRYING WEAPONS. (a) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun, illegal knife, or club if the person is not:
(1) on the person's own premises or premises under the person's control; or
(2) inside of or directly en route to a motor vehicle that is owned by the person or under the person's control.
(a-1) A person commits an offense if the person intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly carries on or about his or her person a handgun in a motor vehicle that is owned by the person or under the person's control at any time in which:
(1) the handgun is in plain view; or
(2) the person is:
(A) engaged in criminal activity, other than a Class C misdemeanor that is a violation of a law or ordinance regulating traffic;
(B) prohibited by law from possessing a firearm; or
(C) a member of a criminal street gang, as defined by Section 71.01.
(a-2) For purposes of this section, "premises" includes real property and a recreational vehicle that is being used as living quarters, regardless of whether that use is temporary or permanent. In this subsection, "recreational vehicle" means a motor vehicle primarily designed as temporary living quarters or a vehicle that contains temporary living quarters and is designed to be towed by a motor vehicle. The term includes a travel trailer, camping trailer, truck camper, motor home, and horse trailer with living quarters.
(b) Except as provided by Subsection (c), an offense under this section is a Class A misdemeanor.
(c) An offense under this section is a felony of the third degree if the offense is committed on any premises licensed or issued a permit by this state for the sale of alcoholic beverages.

I have two already.. one stays loaded inside of a modified holster attached to my computer desk, and the other is on my night stand.

Was just wondering about carrying it in a vehicle.. I know vehicles fall under the castle doctrine, and in houses anyone over 18 can own a handgun. But you have to be 21 to have a CHL.

So I was just thinking, maybe since the vehicle is considered your "castle" would it be legal to carry a handgun inside of it at 20 years old?

The Penal Code makes no provision for age. In other words, age is not a qualifier.

Remember local municipalities can add but not take away from the State Code. So I would check with your County for specifics.
ie In my state it is not illegal for a private person to have a taser. However it is in my County. So you would be find south of here but as soon as you enter the county you are in violation.

I always have my Glock 22 with me when I'm in my vehicle and I don't have a CHL.. It's mainly because I live in a bad area.

I don't have much longer before I hit 21, so I'll just wait until then, which is in April.

Good choice in pistol by the way, I love my Glock 22. I was thinking about getting a new Glock soon. I think I'm gonna go to the range this week.

Thanks, I love my Glock too. It fits in my hand perfectly and I couldn't ask much more from it. I also have a Glock 20 and a Glock 21.
