So I am taking a traffic law and investigation class online, and a question came up about should the death penalty be given to those who kill a family or another person while driving under the influence or intoxicated. I say yes 100%, especially if this is the 2nd or 3rd DWI/DUI charge for the individual. I have asked a few Marines out here their opinions and it's surprisingly about 50/50 for who I ask. Just wanted to throw this out there and see some LEO's opinions. Thanks

I don't think I could really support death for DUI death resulting. Maybe in extreme circumstances, but those would be so far and few between its not worth having the law. Lengthy prison terms should do (up to and including life).
In RI the max. penalty for DUI death resulting is 10 years. That's not always long enough. Often a lesser sentence is imposed or the 10 is shortened by parole.

I am for life sentence for multiple DWI's resulting in death at the end.
I think sentencing is way too lenient.
Generally as a broad rule, I am not for the death sentence for DWI fatalities.
