My SSgt over here from San Antonio, has a question that he has asked a few California Police Officers, and asked me to run it by everyone on here. Before I ask, we do understand that California is stupid about handguns, but he wants to know from some cops in Texas. So here it is, if you ride a motorcycle as your daily driver, how do you properly transport a pistol on a motorcycle. Knowing that placing it a saddlebag or other bag would be "concealing" it. This may be a stupid question. He thinks he should put it in a leg holster and strap it to his leg, I told him I bet thats a good way to get pulled over. Thanks ahead of time.

Texas now has the castle doctrine. In essence, your vehicle is an extension of your home. As such you can have a weapon as long as it is concealed. Do not have it visible.

Thanks Cal, we just talked to our SgtMaj who is a reserve deputy in San Diego County and he informed me that California has an open-carry law but he would still be better off just keeping it in the saddlebag and the ammunition in the other saddlebag and just informing the officer in the instance he was pulled over. Thanks

Additionally, there are no restrictions on loaded vs. unloaded.

In Rhode Island, without a concealed carry permit...

The gun and ammunition must be in separate, locked containers. The best way would be gun in one saddlebag, the ammo in the other.

You may transport the gun directly between homes you own, businesses you own, gunsmith, hunting, range, or gun store. Stops are authorized for stuff like gas or prepared meals (drive thru and the like). If it is on your person or loaded you need a carry permit.

In TX, if you are not a felon or have a protective order etc, you can keep it in your possession and concealed. They modified our old UCW law which required to have a CHL or have it in plain view.

Put the gun in the saddle bag and worry not...unless you leave the great state of Texas.
