FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) — A police investigation has found that a Fort worth officers was speeding and intoxicated when his unmarked patrol car slammed into another car, killing the driver.
An arrest warrant affidavit released Tuesday says Jesus Cisneros apparently was traveling at least twice the posted speed limit 35 mph when the Dec. 11 crash happened.
Twenty-seven-year-old Sonia Baker was killed when she pulled in front of the speeding patrol car about 2:30 a.m. Dec. 11. Police say the 37-year-old officer had a blood-alcohol level of 0.17 percent, twice the legal limit of 0.08 percent.
Cisneros, who has submitted his resignation, was booked in the Tarrant County Jail in Fort Worth on Monday on an intoxication manslaughter charge and freed on a $25,000 bond. If convicted, he could be sentenced to two to 20 years in prison.
