I gotta ask...you used to work for Dallas and can't go back there? May I ask why? That wouldn't be a reason that the job search isn't going so well, would it?

Had to ask.

There are several smaller agencies in the San Antonio area hiring for one or two slots right now. Windcrest PD, Selma PD, and Cibolo PD are at the top of my head.

Who wants to work in Philly?

Texas is doing better economically than most and many agencies are still hiring. If you are not new to the LE world then you should know the wheels turn slowly. My advice would be to look at a map of Texas and apply for every agency with a population over 40k. Those small cities mentioned above are not as bad as you might think.
A friend just got on with Live Oak PD and he loves it. Put in your apps so you can get to work on the street and then you can find your "perfect" location or department afterwards. My dept is hiring but they are hiring for classes in 2011 and 2012 if that tells you anything.

Well what the hell does that mean?

That's like a military kid saying "I was ELS'd". That could mean anything from punched a Drill Sergeant in the face to "I broke my ankle". It doesn't tell us anything.

My spidey sense tells me that your dodgeyness with the question has something to do with why you aren't getting hired. What did you specifically do/fail to do?

As we all know a department or any place can fire you in Texas for anything! Mine was because I missed two week in the academy because I was diagnose with bronchitis and I guess they did not want to keep me and have me redo the two weeks the class behind me was behind be two months. My F-5 says Honorable discharge did not complete probation

I know that's true when I got the axe I was not sworn in so civil service could not help me but they did help two female officers who got in a bar fight with each other over a guy!:shiner: One was one duty the other was not the one who was on duty was not in her A.O all they got both was a white page it took four other officers to pull them apart.

None in TX? My slacker brother in law applied to 4 or 5 of them just this last week. He is awaiting testing for 2 of them.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but there have got to be a couple thousand law enforcement agencies in the state of Texas alone. At least one thousand...

You couldn't get hired by any of them? Why? Did they not authorize a gun light?

Wow...I'd probably quit. Shit's not for you.

There are currenly 94 jobs posted on tml.org for peace officer positions in the state. Granted, some are unpaid regular and part time positions.

Important thing to remember in law enforcement is do not worry about what someone else did or got because of an incident. Make sure you act is clean and your business is straight and professional and you should have no problems.
